MUNSTER SENIOR SHIELD 1991
Final
Semi-Finals
Round 1
Report
Junior sides UCC and County Kerry again found the gap between junior and senior levels to be beyond them as they were crushed respectively by Church of Ireland and Cork County. UCC were all out for 42 in response to 255 for seven, of which Robert Barber made 118, while County Kerry made 69 in reply to a total of 228 for three. Brian Twomey(85), Ted Williamson(64) and Peter Dineen(45 not out) were top scorers for Cork County.

Victor Hurley, having played only one game before, made a match-winning 75 for Harlequins in the semi-final against Limerick. Skipper Eoin McTiernan took seven for 42 as Limerick collapsed, with only Reshad Khan(63) offering serious resistance. Church of Ireland scratched from the other semi-final, thus setting the stage for a final between Harlequins and Cork County. Because of weather difficulties, the match had to be played on successive Sundays. Harlequins made 160 for six, thanks mainly to veteran Billy Bradley who made 70, but Cork County were always in control as they won with 6.3 overs left, having lost only three wickets. Peter Dineen made an unbeaten 41, with Brian Twomey chipping in with 35, Peter Coleman 33 and Ted Williamson 25. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
