This competition bordered on the farcical as Limerick were disqualified in controversial circumstances. On the credit side, the final between holders County Kerry and UCC was a thriller. Chasing County Kerry's 161 for seven of which New Zealander Mark Ambridge made 52, UCC reached the final over needing ten to win with two wickets remaining.
