Darren Spink (captain)

Age 18. Captained the Scotland Under 16 team in 1997. He is an opening batsman and medium-pace bowler, and also an excellent fielder. He too has just made his debut for Scotland B. Currently studying at Dundee University and plays professional football for Arbroath.

Age 19. Plays for Uddingston as a wicket-keeper batsman. He is in his second year in this squad, after a very successful season behind the stumps in 1998. He is the only married member of the team, a trainee electrical engineer and a Celtic supporter, and has played National League hockey as a goalkeeper.

Age 19. Right hand bat slow left arm bowler. Has been in outstanding form this season for his club Drumpellier who play in the Scottish National Cricket League First Division. A first team regular sine the age of 16, he is developing into a top class left arm spinner and more than useful batsman. He scored 66* this season against the Scottish Champions in the NCA Cup. He lives in Airdrie and is studying Projct Design at Caledonia University Glasgow.

Age 19. He is a steady medium-pace bowler and stylish middle-order batsman who played for the Scotland Under 16 side in 1996 and is a student at Edinburgh's Telford College. He enjoys hockey, football and golf.

Age 18. Neil is a leg-spinner, a capable lower- order batsman and a fine fielder. He is at college at Gourock, but learned his cricket well north of there at Inverurie. He played for the Scotland Under 16 side in 1997, has attended specialist leg-spin courses at the Durham School of Excellence and at Headingley and enjoys golf.

Age 17. He is an opening bowler and a hard-hitting lower-order batsman. He represented Scotland at Under 16 level in 1998 and has represented Glasgow at hockey and the high jump.. He also plays rugby and golf

Age 17. Steven is an upper-order batsman and an occasional medium-pace bowler. He was in the Scotland Under 16 squad for two years, has played rugby for Glasgow at Under 18 level and is interested in golf and socialising.

Age 18. An opening bowler and tail-end batsman. He played for Scotland at Under 16 level in 1997 and has just made his first appearance for the Scotland B XI. He enjoys football and snooker.
