A global system of five regional T20 events (Europe, Africa, Americas, Asia and East Asia Pacific), with three countries qualifying from Asia, 1 from East Asia Pacific, and 2 from each of the other regions, leads into the ICC WT20 Qualifier to be played in 2012. Ireland, the Netherlands and Scotland have already qualified automatically.
The ICC European Division 1 Championship consists of hosts Jersey and Guernsey, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Israel, Italy and Norway plus Belgium and Austria (the winner & runner-up from Division 2), playing each other in two Twenty20 round-robin leagues, followed by cross-over semi-finals and final play-offs played in Jersey. The winners and runners-up of Division 1 will qualify for the World Twenty20 Global Qualifier.
The
42 matches will be played at
eight venues in Jersey and Guernsey.
