A global system of five regional T20 events (Europe, Africa, Americas, Asia and East Asia Pacific), with three countries qualifying from Asia, 1 from East Asia Pacific, and 2 from each of the other regions, leads into the ICC WT20 Qualifier to be played in 2012. Ireland, the Netherlands and Scotland have already qualified automatically.
The ICC European Division 2 Championship consists of hosts Belgium, Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Hellas, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Sweden playing each other in two Twenty20 round-robin leagues, followed by cross-over semi-finals and final play-offs. The top two will be promoted to take part with ten other countries in the ICC European Division 1 Championship in Jersey and Guernsey from 19-24 July. Switzerland has been demoted to Division 3.
The 36 matches will be played at
four venues in Belgium.
