The Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh was the first Scottish ground to host official ODIs when Scotland played two matches there during the 1999 World Cup. It has since hosted two ODIs between Pakistan and Scotland in 2006 and 2007.

Scotland played their first match at the venue in 1868, against Birkenhead Park. It was the venue for Scotland's win against Australia in 1882, the only win for Scotland over a Test playing nation until September 2004, when they beat Bangladesh.

By that time, the ground had become Scotland's regular home for matches in the English National League and the Friends Provident Trophy and it is set to host three of Scotland's four home matches in the 2008 edition of the latter tournament.

The ground hosted its first first-class match in 1905 when Scotland played Australia. It has not hosted first-class cricket since a match against Australia A in 1998, with Mannofield Park in Aberdeen being the preferred venue for Intercontinental Cup matches.
