1839 Cricket is first recorded as being played in Kabul by British troops, though no lasting cricket legacy is left by the British.
1995 Afghanistan Cricket Federation is formerd by Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
2000 Cricket becomes the only sport to be approved by the Taliban.
2001 Afghanistan gain affiliate membership of the ICC.
The Afghan national team gain international media attention on their tour of Pakistan which takes place as the US/UK led invasion of Afghanistan begins. They lose three matches and draw twice on the tour.
2003 Afghanistan play in Pakistan's Cornelius Trophy, losing three of their four matches.
Afghanistan gain their first win in the second tier of Pakistani domestic cricket, beating Swabi.
2004 Afghanistan Under-17s play in the ACC Under-17 Cup, finishing second in their first round group.
Afghanistan finish sixth in their first ACC Trophy.
2005 Afghanistan Under-15s finish as runners-up to Nepal in the ACC Under-15 Cup.
2006 Afghanistan are runners-up to Bahrain in the Middle East Cup.
Afghanistan play the MCC in Mumbai, winning by 171 runs. Mike Gatting is dismissed for a duck.
Afghanistan tour England, playing club sides and county second Xis. The tour includes a 1 wicket win over an Essex Second XI featuring Ryan ten Doeschate.
Afghanistan beat Nepal to finish third in the ACC Trophy.
2007 Afghanistan Under-19s are runners-up to Nepal in the ACC Under-19 Cup
Afghanistan share the first ACC Twenty20 Cup with Oman after a tie in the final.
