1880 By this time cricket, having been introduced by the British, is well established.
1884 The Selangor Club is founded in Kuala Lumpur
1890 Interport match – Federated Malay States drew with Ceylon.
1905 The first match between the Federated Malay States and the Straits Settlements in Kuala Lumpur. The Federated Malay States won by an innings.
1906 The first match played by Malaya – a combination of the Federated Malay States and Straits Settlements – is played against Burma.
The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 5 wickets.
1907 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by an innings.
The Straits Settlements beat the Federated Malay States by an innings.
1908 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 93 runs.
The Straits Settlements beat the Federated Malay States by 7 wickets.
1909 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 3 wickets.
The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by an innings.

1920 Malaya replaces the Straits Settlements in the Interport matches. In Hong Kong, they beat Hong Kong by 35 runs and lose to Shanghai by an innings. A combined Shanghai and Malaya team then loses to Hong Kong.

Interport matches in Hong Kong – Malaya lost to Shanghai by 89 runs and to Hong Kong by 2 wickets.

The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 149 runs.

1927 Malaya play two matches against an Australian XI, drawing the series 1-1.

1928 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 29 runs.

1938 Ceylon tour Malaya. They beat the Federated Malay States in a two-day match and Malaya in a three-day match.
The Straits Settlements beat the Federated Malay States by 57 runs.
1939 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by 6 wickets.
1940 The Federated Malay States beat the Straits Settlements by an innings.
Cricket ceases during the Japanese occupation.
1955 Interport match – Malaya beat Hong Kong by 10 wickets.
1957 Ceylon tour Malaya. They beat Malaya by an innings.
Interport match – Malaya beat Hong Kong by 27 runs.
1959 Australia tour Malaya ahead of a tour of India and Pakistan. They draw with Malaya in a one-day match.
Interport match – Malaya beat Hong Kong by 1 wicket.
1961 The MCC visit Kuala Lumpur on their way home from a tour to New Zealand. They draw with Malaya in a two-day match.
Interport match – Malaya beat Hong Kong by 7 wickets.
1963 Last match for Malaya, losing to Hong Kong by 7 wickets.
1965 Worcestershire tour Malaysia.
First interport match for Malaysia – they drew with Hong Kong.
1967 Malaysia becomes an associate member of the ICC.
1968 Interport match – Malaysia drew with Hong Kong.
1970 An MCC side captained by Tony Lewis and featuring Geoff Boycott tours Malaysia. They beat the national side by 230 runs in a two-day match.
The first Saudara Cup match took place. The annual three-day encounter is still played today. This first match was drawn.
1971 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by an innings.
Interport match – Malaya drew with Hong Kong.
1972 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
Malaysia tour Ceylon.
1973 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1974 Interport match – Malaysia drew with Hong Kong.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1975 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.

1981 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1982 Malaysia finish last in their first round group at the ICC Trophy in England.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 1 wicket.
1983 Interport match – Malaysia drew with Hong Kong.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 10 wickets. Krishnan Saker took all ten wickets in the Singapore first innings, only the second time this happened in international cricket.
1984 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 3 wickets.
1985 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 8 wickets.
1986 Malaysia finish third in their first round group at the ICC Trophy in England, beating East Africa, Argentina and Bangladesh.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 127 runs.
1987 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1988 Saudara Cup – Singapore beat Malaysia by 51 runs.
1989 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
Malaysia take part in the Under-19 Asia Cup in Bangladesh, finishing last.
1990 Malaysia finish last in their first round group at the ICC Trophy in the Netherlands.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1991 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 132 runs.
Malaysia host the Tuanku Ja'afar Cup, but finish last behind Hong Kong and Singapore.
1992 Malaysia finish last in the Volvo Cup in Bangkok, a one-day triangular tournament also involving Thailand and Hong Kong.
Malaysia finish third in the South East Asian tournament in Singapore, their only win coming against the hosts.
Saudara Cup – Singapore beat Malaysia by 5 wickets.
1993 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 7 wickets.
1994 At the ICC Trophy in Nairobi, Malaysia finish fourth in their first round group, their only win coming against Gibraltar. They then finished third in their plate tournament group, only beating Israel.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1995 The MCC tour Malaysia.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 7 wickets.
The Stan Nagaiah Trophy, a one-day equivalent of the Saudara Cup, begins. This first series is won by Singapore, 2-1.
1996 Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 2-1.
Malaysia host the International Super 8s, a tournament consisting of 8 a side 14 over matches. Australia A beat South Africa in the final.
Malaysia host the first ACC Trophy. They finished third in their first round group.
Malaysia finish third in the Tuanku Ja'afar Cup in Singapore, their only win coming against Thailand.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
1997 Malaysia host the ICC Trophy and finish in 16th place.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 3-0.
1998 Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Singapore win the series 2-1.
Kuala Lumpur hosts the Commonwealth Games and cricket is included for the first and, to date, only time. Malaysia lose all three of their first round matches and the gold medal is won by South Africa.
Malaysia take part in Pakistan's one-day domestic competition. They play four matches, losing them all.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
Malaysia are runners-up to Bangladesh at the ACC Trophy in Nepal.
1999 Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 116 runs. Future Somerset player Arul Suppiah, aged just 15, took 6-48, including a hat-trick in the Singapore second innings.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 2-1.
2000 Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 2-0 with one match rained off.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 3 wickets.
Malaysia are knocked out at the semi-final stage of the ACC Trophy in the UAE by the hosts.
2001 Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 2-1.
Malaysia finish third in their first round group at the ICC Trophy in Canada, beating East & Central Africa, France and Israel.
2002 The MCC tour Malaysia.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Singapore win the series 3-0.
Malaysia are knocked out by Nepal in the semi-final stage at the ACC Trophy in Singapore.
Saudara Cup – Singapore beat Malaysia by 10 wickets.
2003 Women's cricket becomes more established.
Malaysia play a one-day match against the ECB National Academy. Sarath Jayawardene took 6-43 in the Academy innings, but Malaysia still lost by 89 runs.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 2-1.
Saudara Cup – Singapore beat Malaysia by 7 wickets.
2004 England A tour Malaysia.
England Under-19s tour Malaysia.
Malaysia host the ACC Trophy. They are knocked out by Afghanistan in the 5th place play-off semi-final.
Malaysia take part in the ACC Fast Track Countries tournament, a five nation tournament involving three-day matches. Malaysia drew with Nepal and Singapore and lost to Hong Kong and the UAE and finished last.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Malaysia win the series 3-0.
Malaysia play in the first Intercontinental Cup, losing to Nepal and the UAE.
Malaysia win the Tuanku Ja'afar Cup in Singapore, beating Hong Kong in the final.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia beat Singapore by 3 wickets.
2005 England Under-19s tour Malaysia.
The MCC tour Malaysia.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Singapore win the series 2-0 with one match being rained off.
ACC Fast Track Countries tournament – Malaysia beat Hong Kong and Singapore and lost to Nepal and the UAE to finish third.
Malaysia host a qualifying tournament for the ICC Trophy, but they don't take part. Papua New Guinea beat Fiji in the final.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
2006 Malaysia hosts a triangular ODI series between Australia, India and the West Indies, the first ODIs played in the country. Australia beat the West Indies by 127 runs.
Malaysia's women make their international debut, beating Singapore by 58 runs.
The ACC Fast Track Countries tournament was renamed the ACC Premier League. The tournament stretched into 2007 and Malaysia played three times in 2006, beating Singapore and drawing with Hong Kong and Nepal.
Malaysia host the ACC Trophy and finish 7th.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – The series is drawn 1-1 with one match rained off.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia drew with Singapore.
2007 The ACC Premier League concluded with Malaysia losing to the UAE by an innings. They finish fourth.
As preparation for the Under-19 World Cup, Malaysia hosts two Under-19 triangular series. Both involve Malaysia and England, with the first involving Sri Lanka, who won, and the second involving India, who won. India and Sri Lanka played two further ODIs against each other whilst there, India winning both.
Malaysia host the first ACC Women's Tournament. Malaysia beat Thailand and tied with Nepal in the first round, but are eliminated at that stage. Bangladesh beat Nepal in the final.
Saudara Cup – Singapore beat Malaysia by 27 runs.
Australia Under-19s tour Malaysia, beating Malaysia Under-19s in two one-day matches.
Malaysia finish last in their first round group at the ACC Twenty20 Cup in Kuwait, losing all their matches.
2008 Malaysia becomes the first associate country to host the Under-19 World Cup. Malaysia beat Zimbabwe during the first round but eventually finish joint last. India beat South Africa in the final.
Stan Nagaiah Trophy – Singapore win the series 3-0.
Malaysia host the ACC Trophy and finish 6th.
Malaysia Under-15s finish fourth at the CLICO Under-15 Cricket Championship in the West Indies.
2009 Malaysia host the ACC Women's Twenty20 and finish 6th.
Malaysia finish 4th in Division Six of the World Cricket League in Singapore.
Malaysia finish 7th in the ACC Twenty20 Cup in the UAE.
Saudara Cup – Malaysia draw with Singapore.
2010 Malaysia finish 4th at the ACC Trophy in Kuwait.
Malaysia take part in the Asian Games cricket tournament in China. The men are knocked out by Bangladesh in the quarter finals whilst the women are knocked out in the first round after defeats to China and Thailand.
2011 Malaysia host Division Six of the World Cricket League and are runners-up to Guernsey, gaining promotion to Division Five.
Malaysia's women finish fifth in the ACC Women's Twenty20 Cup in Kuwait.
