| 1980s | With the departure of most of the expatriate community after Mozambique's independence, cricket becomes virtually non-existent. |
| 1990s | The new Indian expatriate community begins to revive the game. |
| 2003 | The first cricket association is formed and Mozambique become an affiliate member of the ICC. |
| 2004 | Mozambique finish 5th in the African Affiliates Championship. |
| 2006 | Mozambique win Division Three of the African World Cricket League tournament. They are promoted to Division Two, where they finish third. This qualifies them for Division Five of the World Cricket League. |
