| History | First capped for Scotland in 1996 against Nottinghamshire, John became Scotland's youngest capped cricketer for 106 years.He was a product of the Penicuik youth system before he moved to Heriot's F.P. to play in the National League. He played for Northamptonshire from 1997 to 2003 but his appearances were restricted due to back problems. In 2004 he moved to Yorkshire where to date he has made 11 first class appearances. He was a member of the victorious Scotland team who lifted the inaugural Inter Continental Cup in Sharjah in November 2004, and In July 2005 he played his fiftieth game for Scotland which was against Ireland in the ICC Trophy final in Dublin which Scotland won. In his younger days he signed for Scottish senior football club Falkirk FC but elected to take up a career as a professional cricketer. |
