Cricketing Career

Who had the greatest influence on your career?
My mother and aunt (They got me interested in the game!) and coaching staff at Taunton School and Dennis Breakwell – I wouldn’t have started bowling spin without their encouragement.

What is your ultimate cricketing aspiration?
To see it as an Olympic sport as this would open up so many new funding opportunities.

What is your most memorable cricketing moment?
Rearranging a bully’s stumps first ball after two years out with knee injuries and stepping out to bat against Italy for Austria

What was your worst cricketing moment?
Having my nose rearranged – whilst scoring.

What is your funniest cricketing moment?
Being attacked with a water pistol by a wicketkeeper during the drinks break, or arriving at a training camp to discover that I’d bought 30 pairs of socks and no cricket trousers.

Who is your best friend in European Cricket and why?
I couldn’t pick out just one – collectively there have been so many who have inspired me, and there are so many with whom it is possible to have a good chat over a beer or two.

A lot of the players don’t appreciate the amount of work the volunteers put in.

How would you set about improving the standard of European cricket?
By increasing the opportunities for those playing to play, and increasing their exposure to cricket around Europe.
