My Dad, he has coached me all the way up and is always there to give me advice and encouragement

To Win a World Cup

What is your most memorable cricketing moment?
Winning the ICC Trophy in Ireland

What was your worst cricketing moment?
Dropping a catch (Steve Messiah of USA) in Dubai that effectively cost us a place in the Champions Trophy

What is your funniest cricketing moment?
It was quite funny seeing Ryan Watson getting hit between the legs and rolling around in agony for about 20 minutes. Probably shouldn't have laughed but I couldn't help myself.

Who is your best friend in Scottish Cricket and why?
Gregor Maiden, I have grown up with him all the way from U15's cricket, we have always been great mates.

Who is your favourite Scottish cricketer (past and present), and why?
Ian Phillip, a brilliant batsman and talisman for Scottish Cricket. I was lucky enough to play a couple of games with him before he retired which was superb

Which is your favourite Scottish cricket ground, and why?
Forfarshire, I seem to score runs when I play there. It is (was?) a good wicket Carlton, a great wicket to bat on

Who is the best young Scottish cricketer you have seen in recent times?
Omer Hussian has performed well recently and Richie Berrington also impresses me.

What do you think of overseas professionals in Scottish club cricket?
I think they should be required to do a lot of coaching as well as playing, hired assassins are pointless.

Do you think bowlers should be restricted in domestic cricket?
Absolutely, if a side can't get 5 bowlers together they shouldn't play.

What are your main complaints about Scottish cricket?
The season ends miles too early, we need to keep playing throughout September when the wickets are drier and harder. Wickets are too soft, people don't put enough work into them. This causes the standards of cricket to be lower.

How would you set about improving the standard of Scottish cricket?
Longer season. There should also be more compulsory district matches played on good wickets with the best players playing against each other. This should take preference to club cricket and if people aren't prepared to play district cricket they should not be eligible to be picked for the National side.

How would you set about making Scottish cricket more popular?
National 20/20 cricket would raise the popularity straight away as it did in England.

Which Test team, if any, do you support, and why?
England I suppose, it is good to see British teams doing well. I don't buy into not supporting England just because I am Scottish.

Which overseas countries have you played cricket in?
Australia, South Africa, Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Holland, UAE

Which was your favourite, and why?
I loved the UAE because we had some great experiences with a good Scottish Team.

Who is your favourite world cricketer, and why?
Justin Langer, I love his attitude.

Who is your favourite English cricketer, and why?
I used to idolise Robin Smith because I saw him score a hundred in the first match I ever watched.

• What are your hobbies? All of the above sports, hillwalking, fishing and anything outdoors, I also love to read.
