Today the Under 19 indoor championships ended the Danish indoor season. Tomorrow the Danish Cup starts the outdoor season but it's doubtful any matches will be played because of unfit grounds.

The under 19 Championships ended the season in fine style with 3 very exciting matches decided off the last ball. Ishoj from Copenhagen needed a four off the last ball to take the bronze from Husum but could only manage a three whereby the match ended as a tie. Husum, however, took the bronze from a better run rate. The final match which was in fact the final as Svanholm and Herning had before won both their matches, turned out also to be a exciting affair. Svanholm were well on their way to winning but the stubborn Herning batsmen held out and before the final over needed 14 to win. After a four and two three's Herning needed to hit a 2 off the final ball to win, but Melad Navabi who  had batted so well, missed and was run out. Svanholm won the Championship for the third year running and can now keep the cup.

Svanholm, the large club from Broenby, a Copenhagen suburb, were unable to dominate the boys and the smallboys Championships played a week ago. Svanholm lost in both cases to Ishøj. None of the clubs from Jutland could compete with the Copenhagen clubs and it isa worrying factor that youth cricket in Jutland is going downhill.

The seniors don't play a Danish Championship but only a regional one. The number of clubs taking part has fallen dramatically during the last years. So Herning had no problem in winning the Jutland Championship beating their second team in the process. In Copenhagen it was Albertslund that surprised and beat the elite clubs taking part. Albertslund seems to have been strengthened since last year, so we look forward to see how they get on outdoors.
