Despite heavy rain yesterday it was still possible to stage the Danish Cup game between Skanderborg and Aalborg, though the ground was soft and still uncut. But the weather was nice and real spring was in the air when Skanderborg, last year's Danish Champions put Aalborg in to bat in the 40 over game. Both sides had profiles missing from last year. Skanderborg are now without the Hedegaard brothers, while Aalborg have a new player/coach from down under, Dave Nankerves but must do without spinner Soren Klitgaard and fast bowler Mads Kopperholdt.

Despite losing a quick wicket Jeveratnam and Nankerves put on 101 for the second wicket before Thomas Nielsen removed both of them. But with contributions from N.P. Kopperholdt and Tommy Jeppesen, Aalborg managed to finish on 165 for 6 in their 40 overs.

Skanderborg didn't start well losing two early wickets and then Carsten Pedersen, the Danish captain played across a full length ball, but Soren Kirk and Jesper Hansen took the score from 46 to 113 helped by some wayward spin bowling, before Kirk was stumped. Skanderborg were still in control at 140 for 5, but a sudden collapse start by Thorsens wicket (see photo) had Skanderborg reeling at 144 for 9. The last pair gave life to the cause leaving 5 to get off the last over but Thorup struck again taking his third wicket in Aalborg's victory.
