"The Glostrup Express is running" is perhaps the word after todays match against Norrebro in the Danish Elitedivision. Norrebro batted first and posted a decent competative total of 226 all out in the last over, but Glostrup was no match for them on todays form, flying past Norrebro's total after only 31 overs. Captain David Borchersen (49), Australian Niel Schittler (47) and Anders Rasmussen (75 not out) contributed to the fast running. Glostrup are now the side to beat and Aalborg who have them next Saturday, are already shivering with fear as they were today scittled out by Husum for 61. Aalborg are relying heavily on the batting of Australian David Nankervis but today he holed out to fine leg for a low score. Husum's Leif Slebsager took three wickets for 5 runs off 9 overs with his left arm spin while Lars Hedegaard also took 3 wickets but for four runs off six overs.
The best match of the days was at Skanderborg where the defending champions took on Esbjerg. Skanderborg were without three key players and had to dig out veteran Per Rasmussen for todays game. Esbjerg are without Henrik Ore who has a hip complaint and probably will not take part any more this year and Mads Schmidt. Esbjerg won the toss and put Skanderborg in to bat. Skanderborg got off to a bright start and were going well at 79 for 2 when the introduction of spin with Kent Jensen caused problems with a quick flutter of wickets which claimed the likes of Carsten Pedersen and Morten Hedegaard for low scores. This took out the momentum of Skanderborg's innings and they lost regular wickets as the tail tried to force the pace. Skanderborg were all out for 141.
Esbjerg were quick from the start as Jesper Hansen pounced on anything short or overpitched. With 50 on the board after just 8 overs the impression was Esbjerg would win this quickly. Skanderborg, despite being without their main strike bowlers, suddenly broke through and young Martin Vitten put Esbjerg under pressure and they suddenly lost quick wickets. Esbjerg's experienced captain Peer Jensen was soon in and was holding the innings together but wickets fell at the other end - 7 for 94, 8 for 99 and 9 for 120. Skanderborg was on the verge of victory and when Peer Jensen was put down, Skanderborg just lacked the edge. Peer steered the strike and managed to steer Esbjerg home.
In the first division AB continued their good form by defeating newcomers KB II, thanks to some good bowling from Asim Haider with 6 for 18. On Saturday Herning took revenge for their cup defeat the day before by thrashing Svanholm II at home. In Copenhagen Ishoj who were relegated last year, surpisingly lost to Koge. This was due to a one man show from former Danish international Soren Sorensen who took four wickets and scored 71. This result throws the division wide open this year.
