Svanholm were hampered before todays game against Esbjerg as both Mickey Lund and Zishan Shah were injured after yesterday's cup loss to Glostrup, but Thomas Hansen was back in the side after a thigh problem. Svanholm batted first and found a good replacement in Tahir Siddque who scored 43 and Soren Vestergaard made 58 surviving a simple catch in Svanholm's 236, but Esbjerg were hampered as captain Peer Jensen, now known as the Desert Fox, was forced to leave the field with chest pains (heart problems) and he took no further part in the match. Esbjerg could then prove no match to Thomas hansen on the rampage in the stiff breeze and his 7 for 31 bowling form the one end was enough to remove Esbjerg for 58. Esbjerg have to play agian tomorrow so they will be finding it tough.
Aalborg were in Copenhagen too and had to face Glostrup once again. They were determined to improve their performance on their earlier meeting with Glostrup, where they were skittled for 16. This they did but the problem was that Glostrup also improved. With Niel Schittler again in form Glostrup, who were batting first, were well on their way to a mammoth total of 370 but they failed to cash in on the final overs and ended on 306 for 5. Niel Schittler was 111 not out supported by young Aftab Ahmed's 68. Aalborg were ufortunate to drop at least six sitters so they only have themselves to blame. Aalborg got off to a bad start batting losing two quick wickets but Australian David Nankervis (109) and Martin Sorensen (49) restores order and David held the innings together but none of his partneres could really contrubute to the score and Aalborg were all out for 195.
The day's most exciting match was played in the first division where last year's relegated team Ishoj met last year's promoted team KB seconds. Ishoj had only won one match before today while KB have done better than expected. Ishoj made 206 for 9 in their 50 overs while KB with 3 wickets left and three overs to go still needed 39 to win. With the last over they still wanted13 and when the last ball was to be bowled they still needed 2 to win. The batsman Farsan Boota decided the best bet was to hit ball out the ground but he was promtly bowled in the attempt by Usman Hanif nad Ishoj won by 1 run.
Tomorrow sees the calsh of the bottom when Aalborg have to play Norrebro. Neither side have yet a victory and Aalborg have flown in Soren Klitgaard, their veteran slow left arm bowler to boost thier chances. Husum who have become a contender take on last year's champions Skanderborg while KB take on Esbjerg. After tomorrow the picture will become more clear if the weather doesn't intervene.
