Todays Danish Cup Final was played at Koge as part of their 75 year anniversary celebrations during the Whitsun holiday. The settings were immaculate with a fine playing surface and refreshment possiblities. Koge Kriket Klub deserve all the thanks they got from Danish Cricket.

Both teams from Glostrup and Esbjerg were at full strength. Esbjerg won the toss and decided to bat. They got off to a brisk start with Kent Jensen punishing any thing off line but any chance of a big opening stand were quashed when both openers fell in quick succession. Jesper Hansen and Mads Schmidt went about rebuilding but the introduction of spin kept things under a lid and Anders Rasmussen soon claimed the scalp of Mads Schmidt. Captain Peer Jensen only lastet six balls before being trapped lbw and Esbjerg were in trouble at 79 for 5.  A large score was never on the tables and only Henrik Ore held on as the tale was mopped up. So 124 was not a big score but funny things could happen.

However Glostrup got off to a good start with Anders Rasmussen in an agressive mood. Despite the early loss of Aftab Ahmed (se photo) Glostrup were well on the way to victory when the rain suddenly came down and continued for nearly an hour. But luckily Koge's ground is sand based so it sucked up the water very quickly. Play soon got on the way but Esbjerg now had the disadvantage of a wet ball. However they soon bowled Anders but they couldn't do much with Niel Schlittler. Glostrup raced home to win by seven wickets. Anders Rasmussen won an award for his bowling while Niel Sclittler took the batting honours sponsored by Koge Kricket Klub.

Glostrup are now clear favourites to win the double and we look foward to see how they get on against Husum in 14 days. Husum have yet to lose as well.
