The match between Glostrup and Svanholm was a talking point at yesterday's Denmark game amongst the few usual spectators. Svanholm had won their last 2 matches while Glostrup although unbeaten were perhaps beginning to falter. So there was an expectation the ballon would burst and it did. Both teams were suffering from players having played for Denmark for 2 days and were unable to bowl at their best. This affected Glostrup more than Svanholm and it showed.
Glostrup batted first and posted 227 in their 50 overs. The runs were shared evenly as no batsmen stayed long enough to really make an impact. Neil Schittler was brillantly caught by keeper Mohammad Siddiq in front of the slips and prevented a big score from the professional. The bowling honours were shared too as no one took more than two wickets.
Svanholm however got off to a good start with the first wicket falling at 66 (Zishan Shah 38). Mickey Lund continued and batted so well that he will talk about it for years to come. Everthing was correct except that fact he didn't time his exit right being 98 not out at the end. Glostrup used seven bowlers, none of them making any headway as Svanholm won by seven wickets.
Glostrup's defeat opens up the championship race as Husum beat Aalborg easily down in North Germany and keeping the pressure on Glostrup and Svanholm. it will be these 3 teams that will decide the race. KB lost to Norrebro in a high scoring affair and are now too far behind.
In the first division AB kept their place at the top by thrashing Koge by 220 runs. AB making their highest score to date. Ishoj and neighbours Albertslund met in the local derby where fireworks could be expected but not this time. Ishoj made 211 and bowling out Albertslund for 177. Svanholms second eleven continued their winning run by easily beating KB's seconds.
