As part of the preparations of the coming European championships Denmark's under 23 side took on the full German side at the Danish club of Husum in Northern Germany. It turned out to be an exciting affair with Denmark batting first and scoring 267 for 8 in their 50 overs. Zishan Shah of Svanholm and Usman Anwar put on 128 for the first wicket and Zishan Shah went on to top score with 72. The good thing seen from the Danish point of view was the stand from the last pair Kasif Quershi and Rocky Chawla who liftet the score from 222 to 267 without the use of "slogging" but just pushing the score along in singles.

When Germany batted and with 10 overs left there wasn't any sign of a possible Danish victory as Germany needed only 60 runs with 5 wickets left. In the past Danish sides had folded at this point but today the young side showed they could fight their way out of trouble. Zishan Shah (3 for 30) and Bilal Khan (1 for 18) held the Germans in a stanglehold and bowled them out for 245.

A good victory for the Danes which shows that the Danish talent work is not that bad as some sceptics have claimed. National coach Peter Palle Klokker was very pleased with the proceedings and commended the cooperation with the assistent coach John Kedey, who is the professional coach at Svanholm CC. This opens up the question if this isn't the way for other top Danish clubs in having professional coaches that are made available for use in DCF's work with various national sides. John Kedey has already made a positive impression and a great help for national work and therefore there should be a permanent agreement on the use of coaches between the clubs and the DCF.
