Denmark have Sunday and Monday been in Gloucester to play two warm-up games againast Gloucestershires seconds as the final preparation for the European Championships in Glasgow early next month. Both games turned out to be copies of each other as to the scores, where the batsmen dominated the procededings and both games were played as 40 over matches.
On the Sunday the Danes faced a Gloucester side incuding 5 first team memebers who was using the match as a warm up to their twenty/twenty quarter final the day after. Denmark batted first and scored 193 for 9 in the 40 overs. Frederik Klokker was the mainstay with a knock of 65 supported by Michael Pedersen with 36. Frederik and Zishan Shah put on 60 for the first wicket in the first 10 overs. High scoring rates is something the Danes have been looking for and this pleased nationalcoach Peter Palle Klokker. But after the good start the following batsmen couldn't keep the impetus going. Gloucestershire had no problem in passing the Danish score in the 36th. over losing only 4 wickets. Henrik Hansen took two wickets in his opening spell with some hostile bowling.
The game on Monday was a copy of Sundays game except that Glouscester batted first and in their 40 overs posted 245 for 4. Again it was Henrik Hansen who was the dangerous bowler taking 2 for 33 in 7 overs while Thomas Hansen and Michael Pedersen took a wicket each. In reply the Danes really tried to kemp the tempo up losing wickets in the process. Again there was another good opening with 50 on the board in the first 10 overs. Although Frederick Klokker was cught for 18 it was Michale Pedersen who held things together with 78 and Thomas Hansen with 40. The Danish innings ran out of steam at 199 in the 38th over.
Coach Peter Palle Klokker was pleased with the scoring rate but is looking for improvements in the fielding. He's genrally pleased at the standard in the prearations and that Michael Pedersen has come into form with the bat. The Danish team finished off their visit by watching Gloucester's twenty/twenty quarter final.
