Svanholm, Husum and Glostrup the three sides all with a championship chance all won their matches this weekend although Husum had a close shave against Esbjerg. Skanderborgs trip to Copenhagen was fruitless and the side will together with Esbjerg have to fight to avoid relegation while Aalborg without a victory are looking at the 1 st. division yet again.
Skanderborg were at Glostrup on the Saturday and batted first using up all the overs to get to 142. Carsten Pedersen who has come back from a succesful European Championships could only manage 21, thus one reason for the low score. Skanderborg's big problem is the lack of dangerous bowling as Glostrup demonstrated by thrashing the 143 runs needed in only 21 overs led by Soren Jensen with 50 not out. So no one was late for their grill parties that day.
Aalborg surpised everyone by having a good day batting agianst Svanholm as their Austrailien coach David Nankervis hit 71 out of Aalborg's 181 as they batted out the overs. But it was not enough against a strong batting lineup led by Mickey Lund (68) and Zishan Shah (44). Svanholm winning by 7 wickets. Svanholm's Mohammed Siddique had to retire hurt with a muscle injury and will be doubtful for the coming matches.
Husum were at home to Esbjerg and they batted out the overs with the last man out off the last ball. The scoreboard showed 203 with in form Gerrit Muller scoring 46 of them supported by Mark Brodersen's 39. Esbjerg got off to a flying start as Jesper Hansen made 54 off 32 balls but then the wickets fell as legspinner Manoj Valia ploughed through the middle order. Esbjerg were in trouble but Ivan Kristensen came in and with his 29 got Esbjerg within striking distance until he was run out.
KB kept their chances of a medal alive when they earlier today demolished Aalborg. KB's artifical pitch was damp and therefore suited for the bowlers. Ole Mortensen removed Aalborg's dangerman D Nankervis and the rest simply folded all out for 31 as Ole took two and Mohammed Farooq 5 wickets. KB only needed 4 overs to surpass Aalborg's score.
Sunday's last match was played at Norrebro's ground or field as it more is. The council have no idea how to maintain a decent playing area and Norrebro suffer as their field has been covered with sand making it very slow. Skanderborg batted first for the second day and this time Carsten Pedersen made 61 as they were all out for 176. But Skanderborg's bowlers made no impression on Norrebro's batsmen as they passed the total losing just 4 wickets.
In the first division AB kept their winning ways by deafeating Koge. The two top teams AB and Herning will meet next weekend and will most likely decide the 1 division title which gives automatic promotion. The loser will end up playing the second last team in the Elite for the right to play in the Elite. Ishoj finally had some succes as they narrowly beat Svanholm, who failed to score the winning runs in the final over.
