The final weekend of matches in the Danish League didn't after all produce a champion but two teams ending equal at the top of the league, and as the rules state that a Championship cannot be decided on net run rate, Svanholm and Glostrup will then face each other in a playoff match on Saturday. The game will be held at Svanholm's ground after lots were drawn.
Glostrup ended their season campaign as they started by defeating KB by eight wickets in a match where Glostrup were not pressed hard. KB were bowled out for 140 in only 40 overs where only Yasir Iqbal with 70 made any impression. Glostrup's home grown Aftab Ahmed took 4 for 49 with his left arm medium pacers. Glostrup only needed 29 overs to pass KB's total as Anders Rasmussen yet again pasted runs on the board in quick fashion with 49 while Austrailian Niel Schlittler held the other end with 54 not out.
While Glostrup brushed KB aside Svnaholm were made to work hard for their victory on Saturday against Norrebro. Svanholm have suffered with a continous injury list. Mickey Lund was back from injury while Soren Vestergaard was missing. Mickey held the beginning of the innings together with 48 but it was Th Vestergaard (46) and Anders Leiberg (29) with a stand of 49 for the sixth wicket that got Svanholm forward so that after 50 overs 205 was on the scoreboard. Norrebro got off to a slow start getting far behind the run rate required and losing wickets in the attempt to score runs. Spinners Bobby Chalw and John Kedey took 7 wickets between them as Norrebro were out for 93.
Svanholm had to play a rained off match against KB on the Sunday. For KB's playing coach Ole Mortensen it was a chance to play against his old club where he grew up as a player. KB batted first and thanks to Arshad Khan (61) and Rizwan Tabassum (45) KB could leave Svanholm to make 173 on an outfield that was slow and heavy. Mickey Lund was soon run out going for a third run again pulling a thigh muscle. Svanholm were soon in trouble with five wickets down for 91 runs but somehow or other Max Overgaard and Thomas Vestergaard kept KB at bay and with sensible strokeplay got Svanholm home despite Ole Mortensen's outwingers.
Based on the weekend's experiences then Glostrup must be favorites to win Saturday's playoff as Svanholm will be struggling to field a fit team. Svanholm have proved however that they have a very deep batting side so there's always one player that shines. Glostrup have a well balanced bowling attack with Henrik Hansen as their main weapon. The only problem left is the weather which can be a problem.
