"I've been waiting 35 years for this" was the reaction from Husum's Hauke Müller, who has been playing in Husum Cricket Club since he was a boy in the Danish school, as he recieved the bronze medal. Now he's over 40 but still going strong. Husum have for the first time received some form of metal under the DCF. They have previously lost the Cup Final but today they ended in third place after beating Skanderborg. This is a great boost for a club that started from scratch not that many years ago.
Skanderborg were fighting to avoid seventh place and a match against no. 2 in the 1. division (AB) but they had no answer to Husum's Lars Hedegaard who with 91 not out destroyed the Skanderborg bowling attack chasing down Skanderborgs 161. Skanderborg dropped too many catches to make any impression on Husums batting line up.
Skanderborg's 161 wasn't perhaps that much but the ground was heavy and slow and runs were harder to come by. Skanderborg were held in check by Husums defensive field placings and too few singles were run. The battle btween Lars and his brother Morten playing for Skanderborg didn't really come of anything as Morten was playing only at half steam due to a stomach bug.
Skanderborg will play AB in Copenhagen on Sunday for the right to be in the Elitedivision next year.
