Kenya won all three one day games, as well as the three day match, during their visit to Uganda last week. With five of the leading Ugandan players unavailable for various reasons, the matches were of little use to either side as the Kenyan completely outclassed their opponents. Even allowing for the player availabilty problems, the tour only served to show the difference in standard between cricket in the two neighbouring countries.
The matches were all played at the Lugogo Oval in Kampala. In the opening two one-day encounters the Kenyans had no problems in recording victories by 143 runs and six wickets respectively. In the final one day match the Ugandans were completely overwhelmed as they managed just 96 in reply to the visitors' 50 over total of 236 for 7.
In the three day match Steve Tikolo, Morris Ouma, Tanmay Mishra and Thomas Odoyo all made half centuries as Kenya declared at 316 for 9 and then took two Uganda wickets before the close. Uganda were able only to total 156 and Kenya then stretched their lead to 346 before declaring their second innings at 186 for 6. With a day to survive Uganda managed to bat for just over one session as they crumbled without much of a fight. They were out for just 95 as Peter Ongondo and Thomas Odoyo made quick work of the batsmen.
