Nakuru Athletic Club and the Shah school will this weekend play joint host to the cricket playing schools in the area as they meet for a six-a-side tournament organised by the Rift Valley Cricket Association. RVCA's recently elected board had youth development as a stated aim when they officially took over, and this is the first chance to see how the schools chosen for fast-tracking are faring under the new coaching.
Played on a knockout basis, each game in the tournament will consist of two 5-over innings with each bowler restricted to one over. Batsmen will be forced to retire on 15 with the idea being to give all players as much of a chance as possible under the short period. Preliminary matches will be played at both grounds with the semis and finals to be held at NAC.
