These are the four nominations in CricketEurope's poll for Dutch Player of 2006.

Daan van Bunge

Back in The Netherlands after his spell with the MCC Young Cricketers, van Bunge made 609 Hoofdklasse runs at an average of 38.06, and hit a memorable 123 against Italy in the European Championships. He had started his season with a not-out 70 in the second innings of the Intercontinental Cup match against Kenya.

Ryan ten Doeschate

After making his maiden first-class century, 158 against Kenya, in April, ten Doeschate has his best season to date with Essex, making 403 runs in first-class matches at 40.30 and 300 in List A games at 33.33. He also took 28 first-class wickets. Although he only played three matches in the European Championships, his performances with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Tournament award. More recently, he scored a century in each innings of The Netherlands’ match against Bermuda.

Darron Reekers

In a season affected by injury, Reekers’ high point in 2006 was his innings of 39 in 27 balls and 45 from 39 balls when he opened as a pinch-hitter in the ODIs against Sri Lanka in Amstelveen. He also bowled steadily in the European Championships, and took 19 wickets in the Hoofdklasse at an average of 21.68.

Bas Zuiderent

Although his international record was disappointing after his triumphant ICC Trophy tournament in 2005, Zuiderent was the outstanding Dutch batsman in the Hoofdklasse, making 702 runs at 63.82.
