Kenya’s women’s cricket team are currently in Nakuru where they have played a warm up match at Greensteds school and are concentrating their training on technique and preparing mentally for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers due to start in Nairobi on December 8th.
The tournament will be an acid test for what is essentially a fledgling Kenyan side who open their account against Tanzania on Friday. Saturday they play Zimbabwe before finishing their campaign against Uganda on Sunday. The winner of this African regional competition will progress through to the ICC Women’s World Cup Cricket Qualifying Tournament (WWCQT) to be staged in Pakistan late next year where eight qualifiers will vie for two available slots in the 2009 World Cup line-up.
