The big story for the 2006 season was Svanholm taking the Championship from under the noses of Glostrup, who looked certain at one point to win without problems. Not only did Svanholm win the senior championship for the 23rd time, they also took the Under 19, Under 15 and Under 13 Championships. This is the first time in the history of Danish Cricket that one club has taken all the championships. In the Danish yearbook for 2006 this has triggered a word of warning to the other clubs. They must pull their socks up and work hard otherwise Svanholm will dominate everything and the general quality of cricket in Denmark will deteriorate.

Skanderborg the Danish Champions from 2005 had an awful year. They ended second from bottom and had to play a qualification match to remain in the Elitedivision against second place AB (Acedemicals Club) from the first division. The match ended with the cliffhanger ending no batsman will cherish when he fails. Andy Lambert who was 66 not out looked like he could deal with situation together with Denmark's captain Carsten Pedersen, but good spin bowling from AB's Bashir Shah bogged Skanderborg down with loss of wickets. When the final over came Skanderborg wanted 6 runs to win but fate made it that Andy had to score 2 runs to win off the last ball. Kiyani the bowler did the best thing possible and bowled a yorker length ball that Andy missed and was bowled. AB was in the Elitedivision and Skanderborg was relegated. Questions are already being asked if Skanderborg, after 3 Championships in a row, can survive this, as two players have already left to join Herning who earned outright promotion to the Elitedivision.

AB's great season continued when their second eleven won the 2. division East and earned promotion to the 1. division. In the 2 division West Fredericia won it for the second year running. Last year however they declined promotion and are at the moment still contemplating promotion. The 1. division in 2006 had only 7 teams because of the lack of interest in promotion, plus the rule of no team in the top two divisions can take part if they do not have any youth cricket. This has put a stop to a least one Pakistani team's aspirations. Koge ended bottom and must at the moment go down unless a replacement cannot be found.

Due to the problems of the AGM in 2006 no major decisions were made to the structure of the Danish League. However this will have to be addressed in the near future as the 1. division has been a problem for the last couple of years. There was rain around in 2006 and this has opened speculations of a possible introduction of the Duckworth/Lewis system at least in the Elitedivision. 2007 will hopefully see the introduction of an internet based reporting system to make administration easier. So there is plenty to look forward to on the domestic scene in the future.
