Cricketing Career

How/why did you start playing cricket?
I always found the game interesting and at the school I went to it was the favourite game for the students so that's the way I started playing.

Who had the greatest influence on your career?
My school friends had a great influence in my career because we all played at school then all decided to join a club and I know I couldn’t have gone to a club alone.

What is your ultimate cricketing aspiration?
To play the game in the right spirit, to compete with the top players and achieve the records they have set.

What is your most memorable cricketing moment?
Getting a wicket against Canada with the first ball of my ODI career.

What was your worst cricketing moment?
I was the last batsman in the four day game against Canada in the first innings and we needed 47 runs to get a lead and to get the team 6 points. We were able to get 43 runs and then I got out with us just short by 4 runs.

What is your funniest cricketing moment?
I was fielding on the boundary and the bowl was hit towards my left side. I had not seen the ball, so I started to run towards the right. Fortunately it was not hit hard, so did not go for a boundary.

Who is your best friend in Kenyan Cricket and why?
Tthis is a difficult question, but I can say Jimmy Kamande could be because we are both spinners and we spend a lot of time on the ground together learning new things.

Kenyan Cricket

Who is your favourite Kenyan cricketer (past and present), and why?
Of past players I can say Asif Karim because I have the same bowling action and admire his bowling and used to try and get as much as possible from watching him bowl. Of the present players, I can say our captain, Steve Tikolo, because he does not make us feel like juniors and sometime cracks jokes with us and the way he leads from the front.

Which is your favourite Kenyan cricket ground, and why?
Nairobi Gymkhana because it’s my home ground and I have had good performances in the local league there.

Who is the best young Kenyan cricketer you have seen in recent times?
Rakep Patel who is just 17 years old. He is a good all-rounder and I think he will go a long way.

What do you think of overseas players in Kenyan club cricket?
Overseas players in Kenyan domestic cricket will be a good thing because it will bring in more competition between players and clubs and overall cricket will improve in the country.

What are your main complaints about Kenyan cricket?
They need to go to other parts of the country and promote the game. I know they are doing that.

How would you set about improving the standard of Kenyan cricket?
Well, if people or players see a good future in cricket in Kenya, then it will improve the standard of the game.

How would you set about making Kenyan cricket more popular?
Maybe by advertising. Going to schools, colleges and other institutions and promoting the game.

International Cricket

Which Test team, if any, do you support, and why?
Australia, because they don't play it like a Test match, they play it like an ODI and it makes it interesting to watch.

Which overseas countries have you played cricket in?
Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, India, UAE, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand.

Which was your favourite, and why?
Canada was good because I did well there and I had a good time there as my friends who have settled there took me around and it is a beautiful country.

Who is your favourite world cricketer, and why?
Daniel Vettori, because he is my role model.

Which other sports do you play regularly?
Soccer, Badminton, Chess.

What are your hobbies?
Making friends, listening to music, driving.

An Indian artist called Himesh Reshmaiya.

Not much of a novel or magazine fan.

An Indian comedy film called MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S.
