Scottish Cricket has received a massive boost with the introduction of Taggarts Jaguar as a new commercial sponsor of the game in Scotland. The sponsorship is targeted at the grassroots of the game by supporting youth cricket and the work of Cricket Scotland’s development team.
Taggarts Jaguar, with branches in Motherwell, North and South Glasgow, is to support the game at grassroots level with the introduction of the 'Driving Cricket' youth programme throughout the country and the Taggarts Jaguar trophy, which will be played for by junior teams in the West of Scotland. The dealer group will also provide Cricket Scotland’s development and technical team with diesel powered X-Type estate vehicles to support their work in developing the game throughout Scotland.
The partnership will initially run for 12 months and was welcomed by Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland. He said: ‘This is a great deal for Scottish cricket. There are now more youngsters playing cricket in Scotland than ever before. Recent research results showed that the game is growing quickly in Scotland, with over 13,000 children playing the game in schools and nearly 4,000 in clubs. Our development officers are busier than ever and this support from Jaguar will help ensure that they can travel the country supporting our clubs and districts. We are delighted that Taggarts and Jaguar are joining our list of corporate partners and assisting us in driving our game forward.'
Stephen Jay, Operations Director of Taggarts, said: ‘Both Taggarts Motor Group and Jaguar are delighted to embark on this relationship with Cricket Scotland. The fleet of eight branded vehicles will be seen throughout Scotland as the development team introduce cricket to more and more children. We see this investment as an ideal platform to promote our products and services to a new target group.'
Taggarts and Jaguar are providing Cricket Scotland with eight vehicles for a 12-month period. The vehicles will be used by the governing body’s development team throughout the country.
