Saturday's match between Svanholm and KB was supposed to be the première of playing on grass in the Danish Elitedivision but it was not to be. The day before the club's groundsman was about to roll the pitche with the motorised roller but heaved the gear lever so hard that it came off, leaving the roller parked at the pitch with no means with to move it. Here it will stay for quite a while while a means to repair it are found. However the weather turned nasty Saturday morning so it was unlikely they would have played on it anyhow. But it meant Svanholm's match was delayed and was cut to 38 overs. Svanholm however scored just as many runs in those 38 overs as it was 50 with 230 for 5 thanks to Max Overgaard and James Moritz who piled on 107 runs in the last 10 overs. KB had really no chance of making those runs as they were reduced to 10 men as Arshad Khan had to retire feeling very ill. Only 98 was on the board thanks to Svanholm's stalwart Thomas Hansen taking 3 for 9.
Glostrup was in Jutland this weekend playing two matches. The first being in Husum who batted first on a slow ground making only 164 for 8 as boundaries were hard to come by. Husum's younger players are beginning to make a name for themselves as Husum have lost Lars Hedegaard and Lejf Slepsager since last year. Glostrup made very hard going in reply as Husum's bowling has improved. Glostrup were in trouble at 81 for 5 but Rasmus Kofoed 34 and fast bowler Henrik Hansen 43* pulled Glostrup back into the game. They surpassed Husum with 2 overs to spare. Husum's Hauke Müller was of the opinion that Husum lost the game due to too many extras.
On the Sunday Glostrup were in Esbjerg and in glorious sunshine Glostrup were all out for 250. Esbjerg's ground is small and fast so it's not that big a total to defend. Again fast bowler Henrik Hansen had a day with the bat with 43 while Rasmus Kofoed top scored with 59. In reply Esbjerg were struggling at 78 for 4 but Hamad Zaman (70) and jacob Rubin (44) put on 84 for the fith wicket until Glostrup made a crafty bowling change using Soren Jensen and forcing Hamad to make a misjudgement anf being trapped lbw. After this Esbjerg fell apart and were all out for 187. With these victories and Svanholms succes the two teams are now firmly on top.
Herning kept the pressure on by defeating AB. Hernign were though early in trouble but the 2 ex-Esbjerg players Peer Jensen (cpt) 65 and Kent Jensen with 67 got Herning in to a good position with 238 for 6. Ab who were used to their home ground's short boundaries didn't have the patience against Herning and were all out after only 30 overs. Spinner Thony Hadersland took 4 wickets while Troels Thogersen took 5 with his easy paced medium bowling.
But the match of the day which ended with no result being recognised was the battle between Norrebro and KB. The result is now in the hands of the League management who have a tough job on their hands. The problem was after Norrebro were all out for 164, KB with one wicket left and three balls to go needed just one run to win. The bowler however ran out the non-striker illegally, but the umpire made the mistake of giving the non-striker out. Norrebro rushed out happy in belief of a tie but the umpire retracted his decision after a consultation. Both umpires called Norrebro back to play but nothing apparently happened except a lot of discussion and arguing. Both teams have different explanations to what happened so it's a tough call for the DCF. Norrebro have already lodged a protest about the match.
In the first divison Skanderborg and Albertslund have put themsleves at the top after easy victories while Ishoj slipped losing to Svanholm's second team. The division is already beginning to be divided in two halves so the excitement will be at the top.
