After the had spent 4 hours driving from Derry, CYM decided that Ardmore needed a good burst of fresh air to awaken them and accordingly decided to bat first. It looked as if their plan had gone adrift as they slipped to 102 for 7 in the 29th over. Skipper George Brolly lead the way taking 3 for 33 and 3 excellent catches. But Ardmore had spent more than 2 hours bowling those 30 overs and time pressures started to catch up with them. There was less time to discuss field placings and with Warwick Hewitt starting to steady the CYM batting, the game turned. Hewitt, who finished with 57 not out, joined with Niall McDarby and then in an unbeaten 9th wicket stand of 83 with Michael Launders (23 not out) leaving Ardmore a much bigger mountain to climb than earlier seemed likely.
And so it proved. After Paul McDowell had departed to Kenny McDonald's well judged catch, the CYM bowling hordes poured through the residual Ardmore batting as 36 for 0 quickly became 79 all out. Ken Brennan (2 for 9), Conor Kelly (3 for 14), McDarby (2 for 17) and Cole (2 for 4) saw CYM home with more than 20 overs to spare.
Brigade edged a close fought contest at home to Merrion. The visitors made a disappointing total of 167, with Paul Lavang top scoring with 55 - 3 fours and a six- and Irish international Thinus Fourie making a well composed 43. Killian O' Donoghue was the only other contributor of note with 23. Gordon Cooke took 3-37, including the wicket of Dom Joyce (12) with his first delivery, and Iftikhar Hussain had figures of 3-35 in his 10 overs.
Brigade lost early wickets, including Hussain for 29, to leave the game evenly poised. Stephen Smyth (43) - 6 fours and a six, and Gordon Cooke (35) - 5 fours and a six- added 51 for the 5th wicket as Brigade looked to be strolling to the win. However Robbie Ensor with 4-19 and Dom Joyce 2-24, ensured a tight finish, but Brigade scraped home with 2 wickets in hand.
A weakened Fox Lodge side lost by 66 runs at Lisburn. A solid batting display by the home side saw David Graham hit 49, and Greg Thompson 30, in their total of 219 for 9. In reply Fox Lodge could only manage 153, with Johnny Heywood Junior scoring his second half century of the week. Only Barry Scott with 24 offered any support, as they struggled with the combination of medium pacer Uel Graham (4-40), and the leg spin of Greg Thompson (3-20).
