In a match reduced to 30 overs per side, CY won the toss and chose to put Leinster in on a damp pitch. CY took wickets at regular intervals until the score read 88/5 off 19 overs with Anton Scholtz holding the innings
together. Skipper Will Lennon replaced Gavin Gilmore and set about the CY bowling attack . He reached his 50 off 24 balls and finished on 61 no.
Scholtz played the perfect partner rotating the strike and testing those delicate hamstrings. He finished on 78 no and the final total an impressive 197/5 when 160 would have been a par score. Most of the bowlers took
some tap but Conor Kelly was the pick with 1/23 off 6.
CY needed a good start to make a game of it and got to 34 in good time before Donal Vaughan, who continues to improve, was out for 21. Tactics then took an interest and CY sent in Ulla as a number 3 pinch hitter. To cut a long story short his mission failed, the run rate rose steeply and try as he did he could not get Hollenbach or Yearwood away. Satti got to 21 before putting one straight up. Ulla was run out next ball and despite having
what looked like an impressive batting line-up , the wickets continued to tumble before reaching a final total of 92 all out.
Pick of the bowlers were A. Scholtz 3/5, R Geraghty 3/22 and, possibly the most impressive, CJ Hollenbach 1/9 off 4 overs while the game was still on.Leinster feilded 3 "new" players. Ian O`Herlihy back from The Hills , Peter Johnson back from Railway U and George Dockerell, son of Derek(YMCA) making his debut in Senior cricket at the age of 15. CY have been strengthened by the arrival of Australian B Dunk who has performed well for Trinity and looked a useful player, but only briefly on this occasion.
