Back in Denmark on Sunday Denmark's national coach Peter Palle Klokker remains optimistic about Denmark's future in the coming months. Considering the lack of preparation before the trip to the Netherlands as the Danish Cricket Association have had to cut back on activities, both matches were not wasted. Due to late withdrawals from Gerrit Müller and Hamad Zaman Peter Palle had to spend some time finding replacements with Jacob Larsen and Jacob Rubin. Both got the opportunity to get the feel in playing against tougher opposition and giving Peter Palle a wider scope to work from.
However the matches showed that the individual player's level of fitness and practice is lacking and the blame for this is in the Danish clubs. The Danish side, as usual, lack the possibilities of playing more matches on grass wickets. Danish bowlers bowl the wrong length on grass and the only solution is playing more matches. Denmark will be in Northern Ireland in July and will be playing 2 matches in August against Bermuda as part of the preparations for the World league 2nd. Division. Training will be intensified in September. Peter Palle has been in this situation before and things have always improved. This is no comparison to the preparations the Dutch have had as they play far more matches than the Danes ever play and therefore one can sense the gap between the two countries is widening.
The positive side to the two matches was the batting form of Max Overgaard who now is becoming a integral part of the team and the fine left arm bowling of Bashir Shah, a product of newly promoted AB. He will certainly be seen the rest of the summer.
On a more sad note was the unfortunate incident with Anders Rasmussen who injured his finger fielding a return ball in the match against Netherlands A. The tip of his finger is badly damaged and will probably keep him out of the important top clash next Sunday between Glostrup and Svanholm. Spinner Bobby Chawla has been out of action this past year with a heel injury and his fighting to become fit before September.

In Denmark only the first division were active this last weekend but all three matches on Saturday were washed out because of heavy rain. Skanderborg and Albertslund won both their matches on Sunday and continue the two horse race for promotion. Fate has it the two teams first meet each other in August so the tension builds up. The final match was a clash between bottom sides Fredericia and Koge where Koge won the match in the final over leaving Fredericia still without a win at the bottom while Koge move out of the danger zone.
