Herning are in Copenhagen this weekend and had their last chance to remain in the race for the Championship by beating leaders Svanholm on Saturday. And a chance they had as Svanholm were restricted to 110 for 5 after 36 overs, thanks to captain Peer Jensen's bowling and the new batsman James Monitz gave a sitter of a chance straight away that was put down. Monitz then carried on to hit 54 runs off just 28 balls and turned Svanholm around together with Mohammad Siddiq (37). When Monitz was out Svanholm were 186 for 7 after 40 overs and ended the innings on 222 for 9. Herning were in trouble early but a stand for the third wicket got Herning to 89 but Herning were too far behind on the scoring rate and three run outs followed in the chase for runs. Herning had no big hitter to turn it around and they were all out for 145. Herning are now out of the Championship race that is now just between Svanholm and Glostrup with Svanholm firm favourites after last weeks victory
Promoted AB were on visit to North Germany where they faced Husum who haven't had a good season this year so far. Husum have lost 2 key players from last year and this has shown. Saturday was no exception as after AB were all out for 156 on Mikkelberg's large ground Husum had another black out and were skittled for a mere 68. Husum complained that they had 4 lbw against them but that argument was useless as AB had two. As the area like everywhere else has had loads of rain this past week it seems more likely that the pitch was soft and low explaining the high amount of lbw's. AB's and now Denmark's left arm spinner Bashir Shah continued his form taking another 3 wickets in 4 overs.
In the first division rain had a say in the match between Ishoj and KB. Ishoj opened with 234 for seven and after 25 overs KB were struggling at 65 for 7 when the heavens opened and waterlogged the ground. Denmark as yet don't use Duckwoth/Lewis but use an average system. As KB had faced the minimum 20 overs their scoring average was lower than Ishojs and therefore they lost.
In Fredericia leaders Skanderborg bowled out Fredericia the bottom side for just 42. Both teams decided to play despite water on the ground and as Skanderborg passed Fredericia's score without loss it was their feet that got the wettest.
Sunday Herning face Norrebro while bottom side Esbjerg are at KB.
