Three wickets apiece for Rohit Vekaria and Rakep Patel helped put Kenya in a commanding position going into the lunch break of their third and final group match against Zambia in Benoni. Vekaria was especially impressive as he bowled 5 maidens in a 10 over spell that only conceded 17 runs. Patel was more expensive going for 16 off three overs. Zambia were bowled out for 152 just inside their allotted 50 overs, despite a solid start after losing opener, Bangliwala with the score on 23. A Toms and C Musukwa added 54 for the second wicket before the latter was bowled by Vekaria. Toms was out without adding further to the score and his 40 was to prove the highest of any of the Zambian batsman. From then on in, it was a steady procession of wickets as Kenya tightened the screws and kept the run rate down. Mwamba the Zambian captain did entertain briefly in his knock of 27 off 39, but in the end, Kenya's bowling was too good to allow any of the batsmen to get on top. Credit to Zambia however for managing to stick out and bat the full overs, losing their last wicket off the last ball of the innings.

Kenya got off to shaky start in the chase losing both Jesani and Peter Kituku with only 23 on the board. Alex Obanda and samarth Patel then added 49 for the third wicket with Obanda being particularly aggressive. Patel was the next man out, bowled by Toms for 34, but Obanda and Prashant Srinivas kept up the onslaught. Obanda fell for 42 off only 29 deliveries with the end in sight, and Kenya would perhaps have swapped that score for a more sedate 70* to see them safely home. His wicket prompted a mini collapse as first Srinivas (23 off 25) and then Rakep Patel (10 off13) joined him back in the pavillion. Runs however were running out for Zambia and Pritesh Lalji and Sagar Karia saw Kenya home with 4 wickets and just under 16 overs remaining.

Kenya's win means they go into the semi finals as the only undefeated team in the tournament after Uganda were upset by Botswana in Group B. They have still done enough to qualify as top of that group, with Botswana just edging out Tanzania, who beat Nigeria. With Namibia running out easy victors over Ghana, this sets up the following semi finals:
Kenya v Botswana
Uganda v Namibia.
Teams have a rest day today before the semis and lower place play offs tomorrow. For Kenya this will be a time to refocus as despite having won three from three so far, it will all count for nothing if they do not win the next two.
