Sunday saw Denmark play their final match in Kenya against a strong Kenya A side although the match had to be shortened to 30 overs a side due to Denmark's travel arrangements. Denmark won the toss and decided to field to test the side chasing a total. The Danes got off to a good start taking two early wickets including Patel caught in the slips off David Borchersen's bowling. After being 20 for 2 Kenya recovered to 66 for 2 but after 15 overs thanks to steady bowling from Zishan Shah and David Borchersen. Then Denmark changed to spin led by Bashir Shah who soon bowled Tony Sugi and Anders Rasmussen who also took a wicket (100 for 4) in the 21st over. In the final 9 overs Kenya added 40 runs losing 3 wickets, so the Danish target was 158. Thomas Hansen ended on taking 3 for 16 off his 5 overs.
Denmark opened as usual with Frederik Klokker and Mickey Lund but this time the partnership was shorter as Mickey was caught in the gully after 4 overs. Frederik was joined by Carsten Pedersen and they put on a brisk 50 for the second wicket. After Carsten was lbw (73 for 2) Max Overgaard was caught behind almost immediately but Michael Pedersen and Frederik steadied the ship before Frederik was caught in the deep (107 for 4). Michael held the one end while David Borchersen hit a few lusty blows before being bowled (122 for 5). The last 3 overs are played out by Morten Hedegaard and Michael. Morten hit a six with his first ball and Denmark needed 12 runs which were reached in the penultimate over. Michael ended on 36 not out playing an important innings after Frederik was out.
This was a strong Kenya side that was beaten and this tour showed that there's an excellent team spirit alive on the side and plenty of confidence. There is no doubt that the return of the Hedegaard brothers to the side as added an extra dimension to the Danish game which will be advantage in Nambia.
