Opening bowler Peter Ongondo has broken into the top 20 of the ICC player rankings for the first time after claiming five wickets in the four ODIs he played against Canada and Bermuda while Thomas Odoyo, who won the Associate ODI Player of the Year award at the ICC Awards in September, climbs 11 places to 38th position having bagged five wickets in as many ODIs against the same opponents.

Given that both were used only sparingly in the series as Captain, Steve Tikolo opted to give more overs to the inexperienced and spin bowlers, both players should be immensely proud of their achievement. The pair's dominance with the ball was a large factor in Kenya's wins over both visiting nations, but no more so than against Bermuda who's top order looked completely at sea against them. Odoyo has also improved his ranking as an all rounder moving to 15th on the list with 251 points.

While the two fast bowlers remain Kenya's top ranked players, there was also improvement in the table for each of the spinners with Steve Tikolo jumping to 67th with 455 points, only 10 shy of his career best, while Hiren Variaya and Jimmy Kamande both reach career highs after their efforts. Varaiya, who bounced back to form against Bermuda, moves to 79th on the ladder with 436 points while Kamande makes the list for the first time coming in at 95th with 399 points.

In the batting rankings, Steve Tikolo is still Kenya's highest ranked player after his unbeaten 89 in the final match lifts him to 62nd on 498 points, one shy of his highest total for the year. It is a welcome return to form for the captain and should give him confidence ahead of tomorrow's Intercontinental Cup match. Thomas Odoyo is not far behind his captain in 70th with 467 points, a slight fall from his career best after the Canada series when he reached 480 points following his maiden ODI century. Tanmay Mishra (73rd on 460) and Ravindu Shah (100th on 391) round out the Kenyans in the top 100 despite not playing in the most recent games. Shah has likely retired from international cricket, while Mishra is taking time off to go to university.

Unless their is a surprise series between now and the New Year, Kenya have played their last ODI for 2007, but there will still be a chance for the players to prove themselves when they take on Bermuda in the Intercontinental Cup starting tomorrow at Nairobi Gymkhana. Having taken full points against Canada, a similar result against Bermuda would put Kenya top of the table going into 2008.
