With the round robin stage of the NPCA Twenty-20 now over, it is left to the top two teams from each group to battle it out in today's semi finals.
Split into two competitions, the Main Cup brings together Groups 1 and 2 with defending Champions Kanbis A, who topped Group 1 facing off against Sir Ali Muslim A, while Group 2 winners Swamibapa A meet the rising force of Stray Lions. Kanbis have been the dominant side in Nairobi cricket for several years now and will expect to make short work of a resurgent Sir Ali. Swamibapa have the cream of the national team playing for them, but come up against a side that has shown constant improvement since they burst onto the scene. Though pushing Kanbis close in the Main League, Stray Lions are yet to add any silverware to their cabinet and they will be keen to rectify that with a win in this competition. Both matches will be played at Pindolia Academy.
In the plate event, Group 3 winners Nairobi Gymkhana take on Golden XI and will expect to progress, though Golden have showed plenty of potential in qualifying for the semis. In the other game, Group 4 winners Qutbis take on a SCLYL side that only qualified for the semis after a lengthy tie-breaker. In group 3 Both Shree Cutchi Lewa Youth League and Nairobi Nookers were tied on Total Points Aggregate, Total Batting Points Aggregate and Total Bowling Points Aggregate. In the end, it came down to the winner of the match between the two which Shree Cutchi Lewa Youth League won. Both matches will be played at Ngara Sports Club.
The finals will be played on Sunday 16th December at Nairobi Gymkhana with the plate event in the morning and the main Cup in the afternoon.
