In the last couple of days there has been more training, shopping and match three!
On monday 24th both teams had a day off. In the morning we went to the Oakley factory and a separate oakley shop to find stylish glasses at very low prices. We ended up in the shop called sportsmans warehouse. In this shop we were able to buy rugby tops and cricket accessories.
In the afternoon we had a hard working training session at St Georges Park. At the end of a very tiring day we wound our way back to the hostel for the night.
Yesterday both teams had games against Aberdare Cricket Academy. The under twenties bowled first whereas the under fifteens batted first. Both innings had their good points. In the under twenty game Keith Morton was able to snatch up a handy five wickets and in the under fifteen game Freddie Cox and Scott Weir set a high target for the opposition side with a partnership of one hundered and forty five. Freddie Cox ended up on one hundred and ten after being run out due to fatigue and Scott Weir was also run out on thirty two.
The second innings in both games proved to be very dramatic and exciting. The under fifteens were able to keep the Aberdare side at bay by bowling them out for two hundred and ten. The opposition in this game had one batsman who went on to score eighty one.
In the under twenty game the lads fought down to the last few overs to win the game chasing 218. The boys made the runs in the 39th over with the tail enders putting on 50+ runs to win.
From there we had to rush to St Georges Park to watch a game between Zimbabwe and Eastern Province Warriors. In the end the Zimbabwean team won a close match off the 2nd last ball. This was a great experience for us as we were finally able to embrace the electric atmosphere you get from pro twenty games. I believe that watching this game has helped us understand the logistics behind twenty twenty games and it will help us to prepare for our next game which is a twenty over game against Aberdare Cricket Academy.
