Marc Petrie here reporting on another epic day in South Africa.
We woke up early as usual to get a lovely breakfast from the ladies at Brandwag school. Then we made a journey to the B&S bat factory, where a lot of purchases were made. Shortly after that we made our way to St Georges Park again where the captains and coaches had a psychology talk, while the rest of us were taken for a small tour of the ground, in which we got to see the changing rooms and the president's suite.
It was now time to play cricket. Back to the Aberdare Cricket ground again for a Twenty20. The under 15s played first, but unfortunately didn't have the best of days and lost. Now it was the big boys' time to shine - after a good warm-up, which took the lead to 5-3 for the Surridge Snakes after a delightful display of football.
Scott Dalgliesh won the toss and decided to bat. Ryan Flannigan and I were to open the batting on a beautiful sunshining day, with a road of a wicket and a quick outfield. We got off to a fast start, scoring over 50 after just 3 overs - and, if I must say so myself, I was striking the ball quite sweetly!
We continued this good run-rate for the next few overs, and then it was 50 up for me after facing only 27 balls and a partnership of about 75. I seemed to struggle from then on and got out on 61. Fortunately for us, though, Ryan continued to bat in flawless fashion, as he has done throughout the tour so far. He also hit a 50 and got out on 74 off 44 balls. Our team total ended up on a huge 191 after the 20 overs.
We then took the field and started off with a couple of early wickets and continued to bowl and field well through the whole game and Aberdare ended up on about 130 for 9.
Now that the game had finished, we hit the bar for a few social drinks and an excellent bbq put on by Kempie and Wesley, our tour guides. We had possibly the best bus journey home you can think of, with a few chants and singalongs with the coaching staff getting involved - and a very controversial moment from one member of the team in particular which I'll keep to myself!
We arrived back home for another night's sleep ,with a 6 o'clock fitness session to look forward to in the morning
Thanks for reading today's report, and all I can say is: Four down, four to go for the mighty Scots!
