The first Lords Taverners event for 2008 will be a Tribute Lunch to Adi Birrell and Alan Lewis.

The event will be held in Clontarf Castle Hotel on Wednesday May 28th at 12:30pm sharp.

Alan Lewis has made a major contribution to Sport on a number of fronts, including representing Ireland over 100 times at cricket, refereeing at the highest levels in rugby, and also providing generous sponsorship.

Adrian Birrell took the Irish cricket team on an unimagined journey during his 5 year term as coach, culminating in the Cricket World Cup in the West Indies in 2007, and capturing the imagination of the nation in the process. Before his arrival in Ireland, he was a pioneer in bringing cricket into the South African townships before the end of the apartheid era.

Following the lunch, a shuttle bus will be available for those who wish to attend the Ireland v Northants Friends Provident game at Clontarf which begins at 12 noon - bar facilities are available at the ground.

With your support, the event will help us contribute to the Lord's Taverners Minibus Fund, the Harry Birrell Trust (which provides scholarships to second level education in South Africa for those in need), and the IRFU Charitable Trust (to support young rugby players with spinal injuries.)

The price is 100 Euros/£80 per person.
