The Irish ContingentThe ICC Europe Women's cricket academy  was the best cricket trip I've been on to date. It was incredibly organised and thoroughly enjoying.

There wasn't a moment where any of us thought "Get me outta here, I never want to play cricket again". It was the complete opposite. We appreciated each net, each new drill and reveled in the feedback we got from the coaches.

I know myself that I have come back a cricket enthusiast wanting to take women's cricket in Ireland to the next level and focus personally on specific aspects of my own game.

Meeting the likes of Laura Newton and Richard Holdsworth was unbelievable. The advice they gave us was unfathomable. Ms. Newton gave a brief talk on her 10 year career as an English player which was definitely a pivotal point in our time spent in La Manga. It gave us a wider concept of the sacrifices that women cricketers, specifically, have to make in order to pursue their hobby on a professional level.

The leaps and jumps that she spoke of ironically gave us Irish girls a burst of motivation, passion and La Manga Coacheswill to become better cricketers. Hopefully our eagerness will prevail and we will achieve our goals as a team and as individuals. Every second spent in the presence of the coaches was relished by us students.

There was no doubt about it that we were simply amateurs on comparison but the general willingness, on everyone's part, to learn new skills made it not only an enjoyable experience but a memorable one too. All the information I absorbed from my 6 days in La Manga will stand to me as a cricketer, as I keep telling my parents, I would go back in a second.

Sun, sea and cricket .....what more could a girl want? Not to mention the fantastic facilities made available to you at the La Manga resort.

Hopefully there will be many more of these types of camps, as it will help everybody develop further and become even better cricketers.
