Malahide v Cricket Ireland Women - 3rd May 2008

Isobel Joyce captained the side due to an injury to Heather Whelan. Malahide won the toss and elected to bat first. Their openers Koshack and Mathven put on 48 before Melissa Scott-Hayward bowled Mathven for 14 in the 19th over and she followed this up by bowling B. Flanagan for a duck.

Amy Kenealy dismissed Koshack for 40 who was caught at backward point by Shauna Kavanagh. The second highest partnership was between M. Cassidy and P. Chase who put on 47 before Chase was out bowled by Melissa for 17.

Cecelia and Sharon Smyth opened the batting and put on 49 before Sharon was trapped L.B.W. for 15 off B. Lee’s bowling, Isobel was also trapped L.B.W. for 3 off skipper V.B. Prasanna’s bowling. Eimear Richardson and Cecelia put on another 49 before Eimear was out for 20. Cecelia was finally out for 59 in the 40th over with the score on 140.

Jo Day and Melissa saw the side home with 8 balls to spare with some great running between the wickets putting Malahide under pressure in the field.
