Scottish cricket's first national Twenty20 Cup is set to kick off around the country this month.

The Murgitroyd Cup will be played in four regional tournaments but will culminate in a finals day at Poloc's Shawholm ground in August.

Clydesdale and Kelburne were due to make history by playing the first match in the competition on Thursday evening but the tie was rained off and will be played later this month.

The existing Masterton Trophy in the east and Rowan Cup in the west will produce two of the semi-finalists with the other two coming from new competitions in Caledonia and Borders regions.

Each semi-finalist will receive £500 in prize money with the overall winner landing a £1,000 windfall.
