Following this week's fantastic two-run victory over Lancashire at Old Trafford, Cricket Scotland is playing its part in encouraging young Scots to come and see the nation's best cricketers in action.
So, for the match between the Lloyds TSB Scottish Saltires and Durham Dynamos at Citylets Grange in Edinburgh this Sunday (May 11), there will be free entry for accompanied children.
This latest Friends Provident Trophy match starts at 12 noon, and anyone who was under the age of 18 on 1 April 2008 will gain free entry if accompanied by a paying adult.
Roddy Smith, chief executive of Cricket Scotland, said: "Interest and participation in cricket in Scotland is growing particularly among young people. We feel it is important to support the drive to encourage more people to enjoy sport and hope that, by waiving our entry fee for this match, it will encourage lots more young boys and girls to come along, either with their friends or as a family.
"Monday’s win against a very strong Lancashire side was a great achievement by the Saltires team, and we hope that their form continues into our remaining games."
Ryan Watson, the Saltires captain, added: "The team enjoys playing in front of a home crowd. If the sun shines, we know everyone will have a great day out. And, for those who enjoy their cricket, this is a great opportunity to come along and support our national team."
