The holders RBAI and last year's runners-up Belfast High School are both through to the second round of the Ulster Bank Schools Cricket Cup.
“Inst” beat Ballymena Academy with a faster run rate in a rain affected game and the High School went through with a narrow two wicket win over Coleraine “Inst“, thanks to an all round performance by Irish senior international Paul Stirling  (right) who took four wickets and scored 24 in a low scoring game.
Three centuries marked high scoring games elsewhere. Stephen Leckey hit an undefeated 122 in Methodist College’s win over Wallace High School; David Dawson was also undefeated on 109 as Lurgan College defeated Foyle & Londonderry College’s 2nd XI; and Dean McCarter hit 104 in Foyle lst XI’s victory over Friends School.
