Eight Leinster sides have progressed to Round Two of the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup, although 2006 winners Railway Union lost on their travels at Limavady. Trent Johnston’s men went down by 51 runs, despite 79 from Kevin O’Brien. Earlier both Decker Curry and Agha Sabir made 60 as the Roesiders racked up 246 for 9. Johnston again didn’t bowl, as he struggles with floating bone in his elbow, which he’ll find out this week if it requires surgery.
 
New Zealand professional Keely Todd was the highest scorer of the day with an unbeaten 173 as Leinster scored 295 for 4. He hit 24 fours and a six in his 161 ball stay, and was was given good support by Jason Molins (42). Under 15 international George Dockrell then picked up two wickets as CSN fell 57 short.
 
Ireland trio Gary Kidd, James Hall and Kyle McCallan were to the fore as Waringstown trounced Pembroke. Kidd took 5 for 27 as Pembroke were skittled for 103, and   McCallan (39*) and Hall (31) ensured a 7 wicket win.
 
Rush were the highest scorers of the day, as Ireland ‘A’ international Fintan McAllister (150) and Daan Van Zyl (104) shared a double century opening stand, as they ran up a mammoth 381-7 at home to Lisburn. Neil McDowell (78) hit 7 sixes in a breezy reply, but 4 wickets from Sadat Gull saw Lisburn dismissed for 166.
 
Lowest total of the day was 77 by Glendermott, who had no answer to the bowling of Australian professional Matthew Petrie (5-15). It looked as if it might be enough as Johnny Thompson (6-36) reduced them to 14-5 and 33-6, but Kade Beasley (23) ensured a 3 wicket win.
 
Malahide didn’t fare much better in the batting stakes against North Down, as Ireland hopeful Peter Connell (4-12), and Taimur Khan (3-10) skittled them for just 38. The visitors cantered to a 7 wicket win in 18 overs.
 
Half centuries from Alex Cusack and Eoghan Delany helped Clontarf (255) to a 103 run win at home to Bangor. Ryan Bell (37) batted well for the Seasiders, but 2 wickets each from Rod Hokin and Eoghan Delany ensured a comfortable win.
 
A composed 57 from former Irish opener Barry Archer helped The Hills beat Fox Lodge by 8 wickets. Patrick Byrne (48*) and Albert  van der Merwe (20*) – allowed to play in this competition, but not in domestic cricket – saw them make light of their 164 target. Earlier Hills professional Max Sorensen (5-35) inspired a Fox Lodge collapse from 90-2 to 163 all out.
 
YMCA had an equally comfortable passage after defeating Eglinton, three wickets apiece from Rob Nandi and Etesham Ahmed saw the NW side make just 130. A whirlwind unbeaten 48 from Ben Dunk, and a more sedate 39 from former Irish captain Angus Dunlop eased them to a 7 wicket win.
 
Brian Shields scored his maiden senior hundred as holders North County posted 301-9 at home to Ardmore. Reinhardt Strydom (66), Ritchie Lawrence (52) and Dara Armstrong (47) all weighed in, with only Ardmore skipper George Brolly (3-56) troubling them. Early wickets from Denver De Cruz and Strydom saw Ardmore struggle to 135, helped by the concession of 50 extras.
 
Cliftonville won the toss and decided to bat in what turned out to be a most exciting match at CYM. Taking time to get use to the mat, Cliftonville soon got into their stride. Good batting from Johnny Terrett who hit a great century 109 Gareth McKee 50 and Paul Stirling 39 brought their total to 264 for 6 in 50 over. Best of the bowlers for CYMS were Michael Launders 2 for 42, Ken Brennan 1 for 36, John Hoey 1 for 42, and Ullah 1 for 23.

In reply CYMS decided to chase the total right from the start with some big hitting from Ken McDonald (84), Donald Vaughan 72 and some lusty blows from John Hoey 25 Not Out and 14 from Ullah from 5 balls saw CYMS home with an over to spare. Best of the bowlers for Cliftonville Brian Anderson 3 for 59, Connor McCully 1 for 53 and Paul Stirling 2 for 45.

 
The draw for the second round will take place between innings at the Ireland versus Warwickshire game on Friday at Stormont.
