Warwickshire have named a strong squad of 13 players for their forthcoming Friends Provident Trophy clash with Ireland.
Darren Maddy, who has played 3 Tests, 8 ODI's, and 4 T20 internationals for England, will captain the side, who despite a relatively poor start to the season, arrive in Belfast in confident mood.
Maddy said, "It's been a difficult first month of the season. We've played 21 days out of 24 and it's tough on the body but we're still positive about the way we're going about our cricket. Jonathan Trott's innings of 120 against Northants was exceptional and he looks like he's back to his best. We've got a couple of days off before regrouping for a good practice and flying to Belfast."
Ian Salisbury is also included in the squad - the veteran leg spinner, who played 15 Tests and 4 ODI's for England, was part of the Surrey side which lost to Ireland at Clontarf in 2004 in the C&G; Trophy.
South African Monde Zondeki will spearhead the attack for The Bears, and he will have three of his fellow countrymen also in the ranks, namely Jonathan Trott, Anthony Botha and Neil Carter.
The Warwickshire squad in full is as follows:
- Darren Maddy (captain)
- Neil Carter
- Ian Westwood
- Jonathan Trott
- Luke Parker
- Tony Frost
