Further details are emerging of the Dutch senior squad’s preparations for the summer’s tournaments.

The KNCB has recently announced that on 21 June and 28 June there will be two pairs of Twenty20 matches against Invitation XIs, comprising club coaches and other overseas players who are currently in The Netherlands.

These games, part of the build-up to the vital ICC World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in Belfast in August, will take place at Kampong’s Maarschalkerweerd ground in Utrecht.

And there will also be two games for the A squad, preparing for the first-ever European A tournament, which is to take place in Amsterdam and Rotterdam later in August.

The Dutch A side will take on France at the VRA ground in Amstelveen on 12 and 14 July.

For the French, this will be valuable preparation for the European Division 2 championships in Guernsey, beginning on 18 August, while it will give Dutch coach Peter Drinnen’s second-string players another chance to play together in advance of the A tournament.

The first of these two games coincides with the scheduled final day of the Intercontinental Cup match against Ireland, which will be played at Hazerlaarweg, Rotterdam on 9-12 July.

All in all, it illustrates how packed the programme is becoming for the leading Associates.
